BMW Motorrad champions safe riding among motorcyclists

Performance Motors Ltd (PML), the official importer for BMW Motorrad in Singapore, has announced a year-long campaign to promote safe motorbike riding.

It will offer all new graduates of Class 2 and 2A licences at ComfortDelgro Driving Centre a graduation kit and complimentary coffee, which can be redeemed from its flagship BMW Motorrad showroom at Ubi. The graduation kit will contain tips about safe motorbike riding in Singapore and useful information if they decide to venture overseas to ride on different terrains.

The campaign will last till 5 September 2025.

This latest initiative is part of PML’s on-going commitment to promote safer roads and responsible road behaviour.

It complements the many BMW Motorrad offerings which are packed with safety features, including the recently launched BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, BMW R 12 nineT, and BMW F 900 GS. Among the safety features are electronic suspension with load compensation, ABS Pro that regulates the braking effect, and Enduro hand protectors respectively.

Lawrence Tan, Managing Director of PML, noted: “As Singapore roads become increasingly congested, the need for responsible riding practices is more crucial than ever before. While advances in safety technology have been incorporated into BMW Motorrad bikes, riders must also take charge of their own safety and well-being. This includes being equipped with defensive riding skills, having the appropriate gear and ensuring the regular servicing of their motorbikes.”

PML is reaching out to motorcyclists at ComfortDelgro Driving Centre, which offers a range of defensive riding courses. These cover vital aspects such as brake control, riding under adverse conditions, skid control, and cornering techniques. Participants benefit from both theoretical and practical training, designed to enhance their safety awareness and survivability on the roads.

Mr Tan added: “We also know that riders love the feel of the open road and would travel overseas to enjoy their rides. Having organised many ride-aways overseas for our BMW Motorrad customers, we can share our expertise on what to expect and how to handle themselves when riding through unfamiliar terrains.”

PML has been ramping up its engagement with the riding community through activities such as regular riding tours to Cameron Highlands and Kuantan, West Malaysia, as well as north-eastern Thailand.

The effort to promote safe riding also ties in with PML’s 45th anniversary celebration (PML45) this year and the opening of the BMW Motorrad flagship showroom at 1 Ubi Road 4. Since its opening in December last year, the showroom has fast become a home for BMW Motorrad fans as well as a lifestyle destination offering the finest BMW Motorrad bikes, premium products, and convenient aftersales service.
