It may have taken more than 10 years but as of the first quarter of 2024, BYD has become the best-selling car brand in Singapore*. It is a remarkable feat for a brand that only sells electric vehicles (EVs). And the timing could not be more perfect for Vantage Automotive, the official distributor of BYD cars in Singapore, to unveil its new flagship showroom for the brand.
Located at 305 Alexandra Road, the state-of-the-art facility spanning over 10,000 square feet. It integrates both the showroom as well as a service centre on the same floor.
Other than a showcase of BYD’s latest models, customers can enjoy innovative experiences such as virtual test drives to explore its EV range in a 3D interactive format.
BYD, the Chinese car brand, first made its appearance in Singapore back in 2012. The collaboration with Vantage Automotive began in 2019. Since then, the brand has seen exceptional growth.
Vantage Automotive’s managing director, Anthony Teo, has previously said that the Singapore Government’s incentives to encourage EV adoption has helped fueled interest and acceptance of electromobility.
At the same time, the company has also been working with BYD to introduce more Category A cars, which attract lower COE premiums, to increase its market share. These include launching Category A variants of the recent BYD SEAL and the best-selling BYD Atto 3.
The new showroom opening was graced by Liu Xueling, General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, who delivered the keynote address, as well as James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore.
Senior representatives from Sime Darby Motors were also in attendance, including Andrew Basham, Managing Director of Motors Division, who also delivered a speech, and Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia.
Adding some glamour to the event were MediaCorp artistes such as Zoe Tay, the Queen of Caldecott Hill and perennial fan favourite, Li Nanxing.
