Happy New Year!
Whether or not it has been a good year for you, its end marks a new beginning full of potential. Will you be out celebrating to usher in 2023? Or like many of us, making resolutions such as living a healthier life, spending more time with loved ones, or taking up a new hobby?
If you haven’t planned for it, here are a few awesome ways to ring in the New Year.

Watch fireworks
End the year with a bang — literally! Catching the iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks is one of the most classic ways to countdown to the new year. Pro tip: Instead of jostling with the crowds at Marina Bay and getting a headache trying to find a parking space, drive out to places such as Mount Faber Peak, Bedok Reservoir or Jurong Lake Gardens! You can still enjoy fireworks being set off around various parts of Singapore.
PAR-TEH
Let the party animal in you out and dance the night away! It will give you an excuse to dress to the nines. Just remember, if you plan on getting tipsy, leave your car at home! Entrust the role of a designated driver to a sensible (or teetotaller) friend so that your party group will have someone to ferry everyone home safely.
Go for a drive
If clinking champagne glasses and pumped-up music is not your thing, get away from all the festive merriment with a quiet drive. There are many scenic routes you can explore to experience the natural and architectural beauty of Singapore. As a start, pick one of Singapore’s gazetted Heritage Roads – Arcadia Road, Mount Pleasant Road, Mandai Road, South Buona Vista Road and Lim Chu Kang Road.

Setting resolutions
Yes, most resolutions don’t last beyond January but there’s no stopping us trying to keep at them. How about making a resolution to cut your transport missions? If you are thinking of getting a car, consider buying an electrical vehicle (EV). Driving on all-electric mode means that EVs do not produce harmful tailpipe emissions. There are also many other benefits to switching to an EV, from government rebates to long-term cost savings. We would welcome a less carbon-intensive lifestyle!

Clear the junk in your trunk
The start of a new year is a great time to spark joy (kudos to Marie Kondo). We say give your car some tender loving care by first decluttering and giving the boot to all the accumulated waste and what-nots. Vacuum the interiors and give the outside of your car a good wash. Have it look and smell great as 2023 rolls around.

Make time for ‘me-time’
You’ve worked hard for the year – or the past couple of hours cleaning your car – and you deserve to have some downtime. Go for a massage, indulge in a great meal, or have a movie night. Hey, Gold Class at the cinema or Netflix at home – your choice. What’s important is having a stress-free break so that you are more than ready to ring in the New Year.
From all of us here at Sime Darby Motors, here’s to a year of good luck, good opportunities, and good people in our lives!
